Windows 7 X64 Performance with Bootcamp 3.0
I have now been running Windows 7 x64 ever since the release candidate on my Mac Pro. Bootcamp 3.0 was released with the latest iteration of the Apple OS X operating system, Snow Leopard. The Mac Pro really shines in terms of hardware design and thus I wanted to share the Windows Experience Index. The following are the specifications of the Mac Pro:
- Intel Xeon 3.0ghz x 2
- 8GB Ram
- 150gb Western Digital Velociraptor
- Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT
The rating:
The above clearly denotes that the hard drive is the only thing driving the rating down to a 5.9. I have tried experimenting with a Corsair 128gb SSD drive and quite honestly the only thing I noticed was a slight bump in the boot up speed. The rating actually dropped to 5.7 thereby convincing me that the Veolicraptor 150gb was perfect for me….at the moment; not to mention that the 150gb Velociraptor is half the price as compared to the SSD.
Hope this post provides some valuable information. Please ask any and all questions and leave comments so we can all learn from your experiences. Thanks.
