Snow Leopard: Bootcamp 3.0 in Windows 7 x64
QUICK NOTE 09/23/09 – Performance Review HERE!
My copy of Snow Leopard arrived today as it did for most everyone else that pre-ordered it. I naturally was very anxious to test it out but the first order of business was to update the Bootcamp drivers on my Mac Pro that is running Windows 7 x64 RTM. Windows 7 had already identified all drivers and things were running perfectly, but I wanted to make sure I had the latest chipset drivers and the bootcamp control panel available for me on a daily use basis… I have been testing Snow Leopard for a while so I did have early builds of bootcamp 3.0 but the final is the final.
True to my thoughts the Bootcamp 3.0 is Windows 64bit compatible and it does update quite a few drivers on the chipset side of things. That being said, most other drivers inclusive of video card, network card, wireless interface, etc. were all up to date. I did a version comparison to see if the update changed the drivers to newer ones. The only ones impacted seem to be the Realtek Audio drivers and the Intel chipset drivers.
There is more to come here…but this will get you started. Highly recommend you install Bootcamp 3.0 as soon as possible. Apple has not made it available for download, thus requiring that you have a copy of the Snow Leopard DVD.
Please share your experiences so that we can all learn…..its been a great year for new operating systems thus far and I am sure the best is yet to come.
