Comcast – True Speed
I have been using Comcast’s broadband service for a long time. Every so often I run a speed test to see what my speeds are. I must say I am truly impressed with the speeds I have been getting as of late. I figured i would share:
Thank you Comcast….I don’t need FIOS as long as I can have this. I use speedtest.net as you can see in the image above.
Unlike FIOS, those are fake numbers. Small downloads (like speed tests or 25 Megabyte files) are artificially accelerated and there for make Comcast look good. The true line speed for long sustained downloads are more like 14Mbps down/ 2Mbps up.
That is inaccurate. I have tested downloading files in excess of 2gb total from various locations and the speed results above are quite accurate.
