Review: Speck Hard Shell Case for MacBook Pro 17″ Unibody

I have been using Speck shell cases for a long time…from my original 15.4″ macbook pro to the unibody versions of the 15.4 and now the 17″ Mac Book Pro. Speck cases are a elegant solution that provide protection for your investment and make it look great at the same time. I recently got a 17″ macbook pro and the second item I ordered was this….but I was a bit disappointed this time around.

First of all – this case is made to perfectly fit the Unibody styles and offers protection. The bottom of the case has vent cut outs for heat dissipation which make it perfect. The satin finish is beautiful and when the apple lights up..it shows through with a hint of purple..which is nice.

The 17″ iteration simply does not have a SNUG fit around the WEBCAM area of the 17″ Unibody. It is a bit loose and thus when you open the laptop it the speck comes up…it should not be this way. The others have always fit snug.

If you have a unibody or any other MAC laptop…I would definitely recommend a SPECK!
