Amazon announces the new Kindle DX with a 9.7″ Screen!
Amazon announced today, the new Kindle DX with a larger screen and a heftier price tag. The new device is going to target people that want to see a whole sheet of paper on one screen, 8.5×11 to be exact. Amazon is also targeting university students and has announced that 6 universities will go live with the Kindle DX this coming fall.
…textbooks electronically for students means a lot less lugging around of 20lb text books. They have also setup partnerships with various newspapers (The New York Times, Washington Post, etc). This device seems to hold a promising feature for e-book readers and the fact that it is a grey-scale device does not seem to be doing it any harm. Yes, Apple may release a iPad of sorts but the Kindle DX is for a different market….some people don’t want the colors…they want to enjoy reading the old way, INK….so what if its e-ink. The new DX also touts 3.3gb of on-board memory and the usual 3g connectivity. More details on the device are here.
