You cannot be without antivirus today…regardless of what the professionals say it is a must.  With the release of the new Windows 7 Release Candidate, comes the need for antivirus software.  Below are a few of the current vendors offering free trials via download, and one that is offering a free product.

All of these brands provide robust Internet Security Suites that will protect your computer from virus’, spyware, malware, trojans, spam, etc.  You name it, they can do it.  However, the reason of this post is not to make you aware of Antivirus software…you know these providers already.
The reason for this post is to tell you about a product which is FREE – AVG makes an antivirus for all versions of Windows that is FREE.  Yes you heard correctly.  It is not a robust Internet Security Suite…but it is a good Antivirus program.  This is where the professional jargon comes in….they say you only need a full blown suite if your habits of browsing are ‘bad’.  However, for most of us AVG’s free version, which can be found HERE, should be perfect.
